 How’s it going Andrew

Andrew:

00:00:09.63 – 00:00:23.68

Good man Just happy to have some stress free football this weekend Obviously we’ve got the birds versus the giants uh next weekend but it’s nice to just kind of watch these teams and not have to worry about what our team is going to be doing for for at least one weekend Yeah

Vince:

00:00:23.69 – 00:00:30.35

but don’t worry we’ll get our hearts racing next week next weekend and uh I’m sure it’ll be just as wild

Andrew:

00:00:30.51 – 00:00:53.83

Yeah no doubt I mean it’s a it’s eagles football So we’re always going to be on the edge of our seats and probably losing a few minutes of our lives in each quarter But nonetheless we’ve got a lot of stuff to talk about this week Um a lot of news in the transfer portal some coaching staff changes and things like that So we’re gonna get into that here in a minute But Vince I know you’ve got a pretty fully loaded round table for us this week So why don’t you hit us with it

Vince:

00:00:53.84 – 00:00:59.28

Yeah One thing before we get to the round table Did you hear that gum bees is now permanently closed

Andrew:

00:00:59.56 – 00:01:19.57

Yes I did see that So you know I’m kind of holding out hope that it falls into the same path as Canyon Pizza where it’s like they were closing and then they’re coming back for you know for one reason or another because quite honestly Gumby pokey sticks is an icon in state college So it’ll be really sad to see them go

Vince:

00:01:19.58 – 00:01:27.1

Yeah it’s it’s like they had a sign up front and said like thank you for 30 years of service So I feel like that’s kind of a telling sign that

Vince:

00:01:27.37 – 00:01:50.42

they’re probably not gonna be back So if you want to get your gum bees I think the article I read said texas A And M In michigan actually have a Gumby So if you’re craving some pokey sticks uh I guess that’s where you gotta go I think they have like 11 locations in the United States So um state college is not the only place Um Andrew I do have to ask though Did you get any tattoos at gum bees while you were in state

Andrew:

00:01:50.42 – 00:01:51.73

 college

Andrew:

00:01:52.46 – 00:01:58.62

Yeah only one or two But no no I did not get any tattoos at at a pizza shop in state college

Vince:

00:01:58.63 – 00:01:59.69

 or anywhere else for that

Andrew:

00:01:59.69 – 00:02:00.14

 matter

Vince:

00:02:01.95 – 00:02:26.93

Yeah I had to ask it But anyway we got a loaded round table this week First we have to give kudos to the women’s soccer team They had two players selected in the women’s major league soccer draft Uh Penelope hocking and Alice legal were both drafted by the Chicago Red stars seventh and 23rd overall So kudos them That’s got to be really exciting for them being selected to a professional team and

Vince:

00:02:27.19 – 00:02:57.11

uh they don’t have to go there alone there there with the teammates That’s really cool Men’s basketball had their biggest win in program history over the indiana Hoosiers They won 85 to 66 in the bryce Jordan center I was there that was an electric game We have a podcast on that game alone and also previewing Wisconsin Penn State will be there tomorrow Tuesday they’ll be playing at 8 30 on the Big 10 network And then on saturday the Nebraska cornhuskers will be coming to town

Vince:

00:02:57.34 – 00:03:19.77

Uh They’ll be playing at 2 15 on the Big 10 network Women’s basketball had a little bit of a rough week They moved to 11 and seven on the season Um They played at Nebraska Wednesday and lost 80 to 51 then saturday they got thumped by number 12 Iowa They lost 108 to 67 this week they’ll be returning home to the B J C They’ll be playing

Vince:

00:03:19.93 – 00:03:45.18

Wednesday versus Minnesota at seven p.m. And sunday versus the Wisconsin badgers at five p.m. On the Big 10 network onto the ice rink Uh Men’s hockey got uh moved down one spot in the pools down to number six However they moved up in the pair wise number three So that is kind of the one that matters the most when it’s all said and done at the end of the season They moved to 17 6 and one

Vince:

00:03:45.47 – 00:03:55.0

uh this week it was a tough week They lost to Michigan state in overtime and then the following night they lost to Michigan state

Vince:

00:03:55.78 – 00:04:24.93

4 to 4 in a shootout So two really tough losses But Penn State was able to pick up a few points uh for the men’s hockey team So they’re keeping their their hopes for the number two seed alive Um As we get closer to that Big 10 tournament hockey uh this weekend big weekend and Happy Valley Not only do you have the cornhuskers on men’s basketball You got men’s hockey they’ll be facing Notre dame on friday night They’ll be playing at 6 30

Vince:

00:04:25.1 – 00:04:54.02

and on five p.m. On saturday it’ll be Penn State’s annual white out for the hockey team So if you can get tickets definitely get to those games that Angola is going to be absolutely electric ticket prices are are way up there for those games So uh you know it’s gonna be packed Women’s hockey had had a pretty good weekend last weekend they beat our I T 4 to 2 and then had a 2 to 2 tie in their second match up This next this next weekend

Vince:

00:04:54.29 – 00:05:17.3

sunday and monday they’ll be playing at Mercyhurst uh men’s and women’s swimming Both had wins this past week First is army um 11 68 to 1 and one for the men and 2 29 to 68 for the women The men are now three and three on the season and the women are five and one next week they will be at Virginia Tech men’s wrestling how to buy this week However on friday

Vince:

00:05:17.49 – 00:05:33.36

uh they’ll be going up against michigan and then on sunday they’ll be going against Michigan state The Michigan state Spartans the number four men’s volleyball team stayed undefeated on the season They were four and o with wins over Damon and Merrimack Uh this weekend they will be traveling

Vince:

00:05:33.5 – 00:06:03.28

to austin texas where they will face number five Pepper Dine and number eight stanford in the tournament On back to back days that will be friday and saturday and then they’ll return home next Wednesday seven PM against Long Beach State’s interact call So they’re looking to keep you know their undefeated season going to have to big opponents to go against men’s gymnastics move to one of them on the season as they beat army 402.9 to 3 78.3 They also want to invite invite at West Point Uh this weekend they’ll be going

Vince:

00:06:03.63 – 00:06:22.79

way to Annapolis to face Navy and then the number 24 women’s gymnastics team They moved to six and two on the season Uh they had a quad meet at a call where they beat southern Connecticut state Long island University and Penn This weekend they will be traveling away to Minnesota

Vince:

00:06:22.93 – 00:06:39.18

and lastly my favorite track the best one of them all track and field Uh Penn State kicked off their season and had it was really highlighted by an outstanding high jump performance from Cecilia Bacon She high jumped six

Andrew:

00:06:39.19 – 00:06:39.93

 feet

Vince:

00:06:39.94 – 00:06:46.75

and that was indoor program records So Andrew Cecilia Bacon can jump over both you and I

Andrew:

00:06:46.76 – 00:06:50.27

 Isn’t that why that’s that’s pretty high

Vince:

00:06:50.5 – 00:06:56.3

Yeah pretty high So that that highlights a round table for this week What was your favorite tidbit there

Andrew:

00:06:56.31 – 00:07:10.14

I think that the basketball you know um just uh Micah Shrewsberry continuing to generate some buzz for Penn State basketball Um Kind of seems like in the bracketology world talking about you know who’s who and

Andrew:

00:07:10.15 – 00:07:29.8

the N C Double A Tournament stuff like that Um Kind of look like Penn State is kind of getting some recognition as being one of the first like the first four teams out of the N C A Bracket which can obviously change with a couple of big wins here and there So definitely some exciting things I mean it’d be awesome to see Penn sacred of the tournament obviously and then

Andrew:

00:07:30.07 – 00:07:54.28

Um you know obviously the uh like everything happening with hockey is is really awesome It’d be awesome to see Penn State um you know kind of continue their strong run in the big 10 with some uh with some solid performances over Notre dame And uh everything with uh with track and field is uh is awesome as well and Vince I know that you also personally competed there So you want to share a few details about that

Vince:

00:07:54.29 – 00:07:58.61

Yeah I had a competition against the Penn State

Vince:

00:07:58.76 – 00:08:13.12

uh club track team So they do a really cool thing Coach contact in the track program where it’s actually been happening for a really long time They call it the indoor mile series So all you have to do is be a member of the Nittany Valley Running Club and it’s only

Andrew:

00:08:13.12 – 00:08:14.54

 like 17

Vince:

00:08:14.54 – 00:08:25.28

or 18 bucks So it’s less than 20 bucks and you get to participate in three races on Penn State’s like state of the art track Like so this indoor track is 200 m and

Vince:

00:08:25.42 – 00:08:52.02

you know most track most tracks are flat but this one kind of banks up with like hydraulics So it’s like a really fast really nice track We had our high school state championships there actually So you know top of the line track and you get to do like three or four races on there for like 20 bucks So you know it’s awesome Uh had some good competition Was able to pull out the win with the 4 33 miles So I want to see chad powers do that And uh he can come at me

Andrew:

00:08:52.03 – 00:08:52.76

 nice

Andrew:

00:08:52.95 – 00:08:58.81

And your fastest mile ever is 422 right Does my memory serves me right from high school

Vince:

00:08:58.81 – 00:09:19.25

Yes In high school in the 1600 m I ran a 4 22 in college I ran we ran the 1500 which is like a little bit different like the metric mile So I ran a 3 56 there but if you like translate it to like a full mile it’s about like a 4 13 4 14 depending on how fast you finish that last 100 m So

Vince:

00:09:19.7 – 00:09:25.31

um you know definitely I’m not near my best but still competing at a pretty high level

Andrew:

00:09:25.32 – 00:09:30.92

good stuff man Well hopefully you’ll continue to have some strong performances in the years following

Vince:

00:09:30.93 – 00:09:46.69

Yeah And it’s really it’s really fun for me because I love the competition sometimes when you hop in races sometimes you you know get your kind of all by yourself But like in that track environment like the Penn State club kids are pretty fast So like it’s a good competition for me and

Vince:

00:09:46.96 – 00:09:59.03

you know I’m really not alone you know because it’s only a mile and everyone’s going pretty fast So it’s a really exciting type of race It’s actually the most popular event in track and field to watch the mile

Andrew:

00:09:59.55 – 00:10:00.21

 Is that so

Vince:

00:10:00.22 – 00:10:01.45

 it is yep

Andrew:

00:10:01.46 – 00:10:03.87

 not too short

Andrew:

00:10:05.18 – 00:10:13.02

Good stuff So yeah solid round table lots of big things happening You want to get into some transfer portal talk Oh

Vince:

00:10:13.02 – 00:10:31.47

yeah we got so much stuff going on in the transfer portal But before we get to that there’s kind of a some shocking news Taylor Stubblefield Stubblefield The wide receivers coach was fired as of yesterday What are your thoughts on that firing and how does that impact Penn State going forward

Andrew:

00:10:31.86 – 00:10:49.93

Well I was kind of surprised to see that move personally just because I felt like this was the most solid year of wide receiver play that we’ve seen at Penn State in a little while Like we’ve seen some ups and downs we’ve seen some turnover at the wide receiver coaching position

Andrew:

00:10:50.15 – 00:11:05.16

um you know kind of putting in some guys and seeing if things work out and you know I thought that we got some really good play obviously from parker Washington but also some improved play from keandre Lambert smith and a bunch of the younger guys So I was a little surprised to see

Andrew:

00:11:05.17 – 00:11:20.19

State making this move Um the suddenness of it kind of makes me think that Franklin and crew might have somebody already lined up kind of like they did with moving from Hiraoka to your sitch after the 2020 season

Andrew:

00:11:20.49 – 00:11:48.89

And you know when I was thinking about this a bit further and like what they’re looking to do kind of at the wide receiver position and just as a as a group and whatnot kind of seems to me like franklin might be looking for his own version of Ohio State’s Hartline the wide receiver coach from Ohio State because you know when you look at um the return that assistant coaches have in the college football landscape there’s probably not a more valuable um

Andrew:

00:11:49.15 – 00:12:14.665

position coach than uh than heart I think it’s either mike or brian heart Uh so I was I was mistaken It’s a it’s brian Hartline but brian Hartline has been you know the wide receiver coach at Ohio State for a healthy number of years now He’s brought in you know all the big name wide receivers at Ohio State has pumped out over recent years Like Olave like Wilson he brought in Julian Fleming after Penn State was battling really hard for him Obviously he

Andrew:

00:12:14.675 – 00:12:34.42

he’s responsible for like America Buka and Jackson smith and Gigaba and uh and Marvin Harrison Jr so you know he’s just like a top tier guy that I think Penn State might be looking for their own version of um given Penn State’s recent success at bringing in some high level um

Andrew:

00:12:34.96 – 00:13:00.14

wide receiver recruits So maybe they’re trying to make more out of their potential in the field And also maybe looking for somebody who’s going to be a bit more of a recruiter for some of those top line wide receiver talent so that they don’t lose out on more Julian Fleming So I was personally a little surprised by it but you know James franklin um you know in recent years has been very deliberate with his moves So I think he’s probably got a plan in mind

Vince:

00:13:00.47 – 00:13:23.76

Yeah you have to imagine he has a plan with somebody better because Stubblefield certainly did not do a bad job He helped john Dodson get drafted in the first round You’re gonna Partner Washington get drafted potentially Mitchell Tinsley uh keandre lambert smith and mari Evans and you know company look good So it seemed like uh

Vince:

00:13:24.21 – 00:13:47.5

you know he was doing a pretty good job with the guys But uh we’ll see where this uh this new hire puts Penn State going forward And speaking of wide receivers um kind of some shocking news after committing only a week ago Devin carter is now an enrolled and he has transferred to West Virginia University who is Penn State’s first opponent of the season

Vince:

00:13:47.66 – 00:14:02.58

at that And but we have some good news We got a guy to fill a spot in Kent state wide receiver Dante Cephas What are your thoughts on Devin cart leaving and Dante Cephas coming into the Penn State program

Andrew:

00:14:02.59 – 00:14:16.78

Well it’s uh it’s purely speculation but I’m wondering if one affected the other um meaning that I don’t know you know how much these uh transfer portal guys talk to each other But I’m wondering if um

Andrew:

00:14:17.21 – 00:14:45.6

if carter knew that see if this was leaning towards Penn State and so maybe decided to kind of take his talents elsewhere to ensure more starting playing time potentially Like I said I’m not gonna try and put words in his mouth or anything like that But you know obviously it’s disappointing to lose a guy um with the physical specifications of Devin carter You know we talked about him being like that big wide receiver target uh kind of like an Allen Robinson and some other um names out there even like

Andrew:

00:14:45.93 – 00:14:50.63

um what’s the name of the receiver from TCU this this year Quentin

Vince:

00:14:50.63 – 00:14:50.95

 Quentin

Andrew:

00:14:51.65 – 00:15:07.47

Quentin yeah guy like Quentin johnston but you know nevertheless he’s decided to take his talents elsewhere And in his place we’ve got you know probably the biggest name in the transfer transfer portal market for wide receivers in Dante cephus I mean

Andrew:

00:15:07.63 – 00:15:26.405

um this is a guy that pretty much every journalist out there was saying is top of Penn State’s list Um he’s a guy who had a ton of offers to go you know to a lot of sec schools to Oklahoma to Pittsburgh Um he’s a guy from Pittsburgh so you know he’s just a guy who a lot of teams were going after it

Andrew:

00:15:26.415 – 00:15:45.2

And so Penn State is very lucky to have him on film He looks terrific He’s doesn’t have um exactly the size of a devin carter but he’s got a ton of speed he’s got big playmaking ability he’s able to break a couple of tackles and make the most out of his uh yards after the catch So I think Penn State fans are going to love him

Andrew:

00:15:45.33 – 00:15:57.06

Um he’s got two years of eligibility remaining but you know he’s a guy that I could see uh you know possibly leaving after next year kind of making the jump to the NFL but nonetheless Penn State is lucky to have his services

Vince:

00:15:57.81 – 00:16:11.3

Yeah that’s some big stuff If we’re speculating I’m going to speculate that it’s an I L Money from West Virginia that just came up because you know he’s not the only one who’s committed and then a week later is going somewhere else And

Vince:

00:16:11.87 – 00:16:31.06

um if you’re gonna commit to where you’re gonna go you know play it’s going to take something to to get you away and uh you know being west Virginia not quite to the level of Penn State football program at the moment Like I I think it has to be a financial businesses businesses

Andrew:

00:16:31.26 – 00:16:49.62

That is I mean that’s a that’s a good point Um Yeah because I mean we even saw some of that kind of stuff from the uh the early signing day from this most uh most recent recruiting class because there was a five star safety that I think was he was committed to Oregon I think it was

Andrew:

00:16:49.76 – 00:16:58.36

And then in the course of a day he flipped his commitment from Oregon to like Miami and then to Notre Dame like all in the course of a day

Vince:

00:16:58.36 – 00:17:01.43

I think I think it was Notre dame to Oregon to Oklahoma

Andrew:

00:17:01.44 – 00:17:02.78

 I see Okay

Vince:

00:17:02.79 – 00:17:05.43

you got the right idea there So

Andrew:

00:17:05.43 – 00:17:09.85

I mean yeah I mean we really are kind of in the wild wild west of this uh

Andrew:

00:17:10.04 – 00:17:14.84

you know like hiring players essentially So yeah because

Vince:

00:17:14.84 – 00:17:38.88

like you think they would have something implemented like like a contract that they have to sign and then you know they’re committed once they sign that contract but it’s it’s not it’s it’s just kind of out of control and everyone’s kind of doing what they want So it’s definitely interesting time in college football right now But we do have a couple of guys that are staying Defensive lineman Davon Townley

Vince:

00:17:39.04 – 00:17:59.96

who is a four star recruit he’s staying So that’s some good news on the defensive line and another guy uh state college guy Keaton Ellis safety is staying next year and I thought he had a really good Rose Bowl performance So really happy to see him stay What are your thoughts on those two staying and how does that impact Penn State’s program

Andrew:

00:17:59.97 – 00:18:03.32

Well I think you know we need to have some veteran safety

Andrew:

00:18:03.33 – 00:18:21.26

play for next year um since we are losing jay brown So having Keaton Ellis back there to kind of bring some savviness to the position group is good especially since we’re probably gonna be rotating in like jail and read and Zacky wheatley at the other safety spot as my guest So you know I’m glad to see him coming back

Andrew:

00:18:21.45 – 00:18:50.47

and obviously it’s nice that you know Davon Townley kind of seemed like he wanted to test the waters a little bit um who knows what those conversations with franklin and Crew were like to um entice him to come back to state college but you know obviously glad to have him back He’s a guy who had a lot of hype out of high school much like a lot of the other recruits that we talked about coming in for Penn State So glad to have him back Um you know and one thing that we were talking about earlier which I think is interesting um we’re talking about devin carter going to west Virginia and there’s another

Andrew:

00:18:50.62 – 00:19:07.56

um former slash almost former Nittany Lion who is going to west Virginia and that’s Fatima moba the defensive tackle who was previously at Penn State He has already committed to going to the Mountaineers He’s done a couple of interviews and says that he’s excited for the opportunities there

Andrew:

00:19:07.72 – 00:19:23.82

Um so there’s you know a couple of these guys who have connections to Penn State that we’re gonna be playing against in week one and there’s another guy who also might be a mountaineer you know we’re kind of detecting a trend here and that’s a redshirt freshman linebacker Jamari Budden who

Andrew:

00:19:24.27 – 00:19:42.19

um declared to enter his name into the transfer portal And early reports say that he’s gotten an offer from West Virginia So it kind of seems like West Virginia is just trailing whatever Penn State is doing as far as their players entering the portal and saying hey you want to come to uh you want to come play for the Mountaineers

Vince:

00:19:42.2 – 00:19:47.23

Yeah they’re it’s like they’re committing highway robbery They’re just like stealing all the guys out here And uh

Vince:

00:19:47.45 – 00:19:47.95

 you know

Andrew:

00:19:48.44 – 00:19:49.05

 I

Vince:

00:19:49.05 – 00:20:00.24

can’t imagine like West Virginia like alumni having that much more money to contribute to the program than Penn State Like I feel like Penn State is in a pretty good spot in terms of N I L Compared

Andrew:

00:20:00.24 – 00:20:00.44

 to

Vince:

00:20:01.16 – 00:20:02.63

 uh it’s

Andrew:

00:20:02.63 – 00:20:03.6

 kind of these guys

Vince:

00:20:03.61 – 00:20:06.45

see you know all these guys leaving the west Virginia

Andrew:

00:20:06.46 – 00:20:16.1

right Well I think like for like for for a guy like kevin carter that might be N I L But for guys like I think it more is mostly a matter of playing time

Andrew:

00:20:16.25 – 00:20:40.49

because you know I think like these guys are in the mindset of like you know I want to get to the NFL as soon as possible Like a guy like Tamari might be looking at Penn State’s roster I mean like you didn’t even really see him on the field that much and that’s not even like a detriment to his playing ability That’s more just like you’ve got guys like Abdul carter and Curtis Jacobs you know who are just such a solid presence there It’s gonna be hard to find the find the field So

Vince:

00:20:40.5 – 00:20:43.91

 I start coming in

Andrew:

00:20:44.11 – 00:20:56.08

Yeah Yeah exactly So I mean for him I think it’s more a matter of playing time because yeah Vince like I’m willing to bet a lot that West Virginia does not have the N I L Juice that Penn State does

Vince:

00:20:56.09 – 00:21:04.71

Yeah agreed Um We did have some more guys leaving jake Pinegar is foregoing his final year of eligibility We wish him the best Uh

Vince:

00:21:04.92 – 00:21:17.67

and then I kind of predicted this one earlier in the year Kev only has entered the transfer portal at the running back position How is that going to impact Penn State And uh you know they’re already very young running back room

Andrew:

00:21:18.44 – 00:21:25.7

Yeah I mean it’s it’s a shame to see him go just because he was kind of a fan favorite after his uh his good run in um

Andrew:

00:21:25.87 – 00:21:49.65

in 2020 into 2021 Um so sad to see him go Wish him the best obviously Um he’s a guy who’s good enough to you know see the field no matter where he goes Just kind of like a a series of unfortunate events with you know going down with injury and then the emergence of Singleton and Catrin and stuff like that So I think it kind of makes sense for both parties Um as far as how it impacts Penn State I think Um

Andrew:

00:21:49.84 – 00:22:19.55

you know Pence is obviously gonna be leaning on Singleton and Alan much like they were for you know 60 to 70% of the season last year Uh so I don’t think it’s going to impact them too much on that front I think they um it does kind of make things interesting for incoming freshmen Uh London Montgomery and Cameron Wallace in this upcoming recruiting class and how they might try to use those uh those young running back So as to not you know wear down singleton and Alan too much kind of keep a healthy rotation But what is kind of interesting is

Andrew:

00:22:20.0 – 00:22:44.12

you know we talked so much about Penn State being this like running back you and I mean it is definitely turning into it but Penn State is uh has had a weird phenomenon happened to them where they now have to complete recruiting classes of running backs who are no longer with the program because we had one class with novocaine and Devin Ford no cane transfer Dallas you and Devin Ford decided to leave football and you

Vince:

00:22:44.12 – 00:22:44.6

 have

Andrew:

00:22:45.18 – 00:23:06.57

Yeah because I have homes and kevin lee who are now both transferring out of the program So it’s just strange that you know Penn State has recruited a high level at running back and are producing high level running backs into the NFL but we have these guys who are transferring out So do you think that’s more a signal of you know just the quality of guys that are bringing in or is it just you know something else

Vince:

00:23:07.22 – 00:23:34.26

It almost reminds me of the Howie Roseman quote the quarterback factory when they’re going from like Nick Foles the Sam Bradford to Carson Wentz to Nick Foles to Carson to Jalen hurts like all over the place and that that’s kind of how it seems like with this Penn State squad they just keep bringing in a running back who is better and it’s it’s kind of wild and a lot of it’s the injuries I think you know with Noah CAIN and

Vince:

00:23:34.75 – 00:23:53.69

uh evenly and those guys are just too good not to be playing somewhere So you know I think that’s where you’re getting it and we’ve been kind of really lucky that we’ve been able to bring so many good running backs Now My question for you is do you think this is going to happen to nick Singleton or Katrina Allen

Andrew:

00:23:53.7 – 00:23:57.37

No I don’t think so because those two guys are

Andrew:

00:23:57.54 – 00:24:20.37

so firmly entrenched in their split carries that I don’t think either of them um are gonna be leaving anytime soon because because honestly like if one you know knock on wood were to go down with injury I think the other one is going to command so many of the snaps from a starting perspective that

Andrew:

00:24:20.71 – 00:24:44.84

um it’s not gonna turn into like uh you know somebody comes back from injury and they’re gonna have a hard time seeing the playing field again because other guys have like emerged um because I think Singleton and Alan were just really special in that regard So I don’t think that lightning is necessarily going to strike twice or three times in that same fashion So I don’t see them uh wearing another college uniform than ours

Vince:

00:24:45.1 – 00:24:59.28

Yeah and uh I but I felt I feel like we felt that way about like Noah CAin and and all these other guys However um if Penn State were to get two guys better than them like we’d be in pretty good shape

Andrew:

00:24:59.29 – 00:25:10.16

Yeah you know you’re right like you never know like what the future is gonna hold but I think everybody who’s watched Penn State football this year can kind of tell that this this tandem is special

Vince:

00:25:10.64 – 00:25:19.52

Yeah And uh you know really great group Hopefully they stay together in the next two years before they get off to their NFL careers

Andrew:

00:25:19.53 – 00:25:20.68

 and that they stay healthy

Vince:

00:25:20.69 – 00:25:32.25

Yes pray praying for you know good health for all these Nittany lions That’s the you know the thing that’s going to hurt you the most is those injuries and because you know the talent’s there and injuries can

Vince:

00:25:32.58 – 00:25:42.12

uh you know totally impact athletic careers especially at this level when everybody is so good and you really need to be on top of your game at all times So

Andrew:

00:25:42.13 – 00:25:42.83

 which has

Vince:

00:25:42.83 – 00:25:58.56

good health We actually did get some news of a guy who entered the transfer portal today marquess Wilson the defensive back he played corner in some limited time We saw him making a big play He was a part of that fumble recovery

Vince:

00:25:58.7 – 00:26:13.2

against Rutgers when Dominic Deluca and him kind of knocked the ball out So uh you know he was a big time guy he’s likely going to be playing his football somewhere else So uh you know good thing Penn State does have some good corner depth coming in

Andrew:

00:26:13.42 – 00:26:30.51

Yeah and I think that might be kind of a driving factor for Mark East because he’s never a guy who’s really shown himself to you know be wanting for more playing time or whatever Um you know I’m wondering if the addition of Storm Duck might be driving some of his decision making here

Andrew:

00:26:30.52 – 00:26:47.64

Um just because you know he is like a guy who’s like played a lot of college football so far so he only has so much availability left maybe wants a chance to show what he’s made of for NFL scouts and whatnot So maybe he’s kind of thinking that he’ll have a better opportunity to do that elsewhere

Vince:

00:26:47.65 – 00:26:54.82

Yeah And totally understandable players want to play So I got to get on the field to give the NFL guy some tapes So

Vince:

00:26:54.98 – 00:27:08.33

yeah wish him the best Hopefully he doesn’t go to one of our opponents Hopefully he doesn’t go to West Virginia That’s the podcast Hopefully not West Virginia because we play them week one uh you know the next two seasons So

Vince:

00:27:08.94 – 00:27:16.72

yeah home in Beaver Stadium and then uh you know on the road to uh Mountaineer Stadium or whatever their stadium is following

Andrew:

00:27:16.72 – 00:27:21.87

season it’s fine You know what that sounds like to me Vince that sounds like two and o for us

Vince:

00:27:21.88 – 00:27:24.74

too And oh that’s that’s what I like to hear Um

Vince:

00:27:24.95 – 00:27:29.6

you know speaking of changes that I feel like this this episode is all about change

Andrew:

00:27:29.61 – 00:27:31.22

 Uh It

Vince:

00:27:31.22 – 00:27:52.71

has been announced that kevin Warren has taken you know the president he’s now the president ceo of the Chicago bears So that means there is a Big 10 commissioner vacancy Uh So I got to ask if you are commissioner of the Big 10 what would your first decision be Yes

Andrew:

00:27:53.95 – 00:28:03.91

Yeah without a doubt it would be getting rid of the big noon kickoff and then my second action as commissioner would be dissolving the current divisions because

Vince:

00:28:03.92 – 00:28:04.63

 right

Andrew:

00:28:04.63 – 00:28:05.17

 now

Andrew:

00:28:05.34 – 00:28:11.35

yeah I thought I thought you’d like that But yeah no that’s that’s immediately where my mind goes What about you

Vince:

00:28:11.36 – 00:28:33.51

Yeah Big the Big 10 is the best conference in football We got two teams to the college football playoff Both probably should have made the college football playoff based off of how their matchups went Michigan had some like weird things not go their way and then Ohio State doesn’t make a relatively easy field goal you know at the end of the game at the stroke of midnight like

Vince:

00:28:33.75 – 00:28:42.15

it was like you know kind of like Cinderella where they didn’t get the kick off in time and like the ball turned into like a pumpkin or something like it was just

Andrew:

00:28:42.16 – 00:29:02.23

Which speaking of did you see the quote from Noah ruggles I I don’t know if this is if this was real or not but I saw this on facebook so you gotta take everything with a grain of salt but it was something along the lines of like you know Georgia can thank us for their quote unquote national championship because we kicked their kick their ask the entire game and stuff It’s like

Andrew:

00:29:02.42 – 00:29:12.77

dude I mean like if you want to be like firing competitive that’s one thing But like when you’re the guy who missed the game winning field goal you might just want to kind of sit out of that one

Vince:

00:29:12.78 – 00:29:16.22

Yeah that’s kind of on you dude It’s like you have the chance like and you missed

Andrew:

00:29:16.22 – 00:29:17.75

 like

Vince:

00:29:17.76 – 00:29:31.95

part part of the game you gotta execute as an athlete So uh kind of a strange strange thing there But like you know these games should not be at noon like these should be the premier night games every single week

Vince:

00:29:32.35 – 00:29:40.82

Uh it shouldn’t shouldn’t be anything outside of big 10 sec And let’s be honest the sec does not have quite

Vince:

00:29:41.36 – 00:29:49.43

the depth I think like I feel like their top four and our top four is you know pretty even for the most part So I would

Andrew:

00:29:49.43 – 00:29:52.35

say so yeah because I mean it’s like outside of

Andrew:

00:29:52.93 – 00:29:58.93

I mean I guess like outside of like Georgia and Alabama who do you go with next I mean like you and who else

Vince:

00:29:58.94 – 00:30:02.32

10 Elsie and Tennessee are up there with like Penn State

Andrew:

00:30:02.55 – 00:30:03.73

 you

Vince:

00:30:03.73 – 00:30:21.88

know you know they’re pretty good and I guess they do have a little bit more depth like South Carolina I was really impressed with how they close out their season I could see them doing some big things next year So I think south Carolina is pretty good Uh So yeah they did some pretty good quality teams Ole Miss and Mississippi State or

Vince:

00:30:22.13 – 00:30:36.75

or usually ranked towards the end of the season So they do have some good good squads But you know also we got teams like Minnesota who you know did really well in their bowl games in Wisconsin So you know it’s it’s right there there there right there So

Vince:

00:30:37.07 – 00:30:47.8

um yeah they should not be playing at noon That should be like uh you know the A C C The A C C Should be in that spot because it’s Clemson and nobody that’s what the A C C Is

Andrew:

00:30:47.81 – 00:30:48.89

 So

Vince:

00:30:48.91 – 00:31:04.08

um yeah the the A C C Should be at the noon spot not the not the big 10 So you’re right there And then also I would kick rockers out of the Big 10 I think can’t be said enough I think we should almost do what the

Vince:

00:31:04.36 – 00:31:14.39

The big 10 or the big 12 does right now with 10 teams I think that would actually be more exciting and I like that I kind of like that format of everybody playing everybody So kick out

Andrew:

00:31:14.51 – 00:31:15.39

 kick

Vince:

00:31:15.39 – 00:31:26.17

Out Maryland Kick out Nebraska and then northwestern because they were like one in 11 this year so they can get out of here and we’ll have a more competitive conference

Andrew:

00:31:26.54 – 00:31:53.78

What’s funny though is you know you say 10 teams and you know originally obviously the Big 10 did have 10 teams and then we’re the ones that mucked that up we were the 11th team So it’s just funny that you say that But yeah no I mean I guess uh I don’t know I guess the committee is going to be formed to find the next Big Big 10 commissioner But um hoping that this next one um at least entertains the idea of conference uh

Andrew:

00:31:54.36 – 00:32:13.63

Adjustment in terms of divisions and doesn’t immediately pull the plug on on a season And uh kind of half heartedly revived the season like like they did in 2020 because I was just a fiasco So you know whatever say a war and we’ll just deal with the next person I guess

Vince:

00:32:13.63 – 00:32:14.8

 Yeah That was

Vince:

00:32:15.05 – 00:32:33.16

You know complete mess with Ohio state like barely playing any games I mean the big 10 champions so that was wild and yeah so we’ll get someone else and see what happens But honestly I think I think heading into this 2023 season I think they’re just going to keep it in the same They’re not going to mess with anything And then

Andrew:

00:32:33.17 – 00:32:34.14

 once

Vince:

00:32:34.14 – 00:32:42.29

you get U S C And U C L A And I think that’s when they’re gonna start to have those serious conversations about changing divisions or having no divisions or like

Vince:

00:32:42.6 – 00:32:55.91

But just imagine like how difficult that’s going to be with like 16 teams and then trying to be the top two out of that 16 and like how the schedule lines up you’re only going to be playing like half the conference pretty much So like that’s like

Andrew:

00:32:55.92 – 00:32:59.59

we talked about it before It almost makes sense to have two conferences

Vince:

00:32:59.6 – 00:33:11.92

Yeah at that point it’s it’s almost getting too big and or maybe you picked like the top four I mean that’s not gonna happen because you know you can’t do that because they have conference championship week It’s one game Um

Vince:

00:33:12.12 – 00:33:34.59

Yeah So Really Yeah it’s kind of a bizarre thing to see that many teams It’s like the it’s getting out of control but um yeah so the sec and the big 10 are definitely going to have some challenges figuring out what they want to do with their conference play and and how that sets them up for a conference championship and not only that but the college football playoff

Andrew:

00:33:34.6 – 00:33:41.43

Yeah you know it’s it’s gonna be a time of reckoning for a lot of people and a lot of teams and a lot of organizations so

Andrew:

00:33:41.6 – 00:33:49.65

Um you know it kind of seems like we’re in like a 5-6 year stretch where things are just gonna be changing it like a breakneck pace

Vince:

00:33:49.66 – 00:34:00.0

Yeah I’m definitely like a guy of like routine like I I definitely do my best I’m in the routine and in the swing of things So like all this madness just like throws me off I’m like what

Vince:

00:34:00.93 – 00:34:03.13

Keep it the same So but

Andrew:

00:34:03.13 – 00:34:04.8

we’re a teacher you like structure

Vince:

00:34:04.8 – 00:34:15.96

I like my structure but uh yeah so that things are going wild but hey that’s gonna give us more stuff to talk about on the podcast and uh things to speculate about So you know looking at the positive it will be fun

Andrew:

00:34:16.09 – 00:34:35.0

That’s right Yeah I mean it it’s funny because we were both kind of wondering like you know what are we gonna talk about once the season had wrapped up And we are certainly not wanting for things to talk about because you know between the transfer portal and N I L And stuff like that I mean it just seems like we have a constant stream of discussion points

Vince:

00:34:35.22 – 00:34:46.38

Yeah that’s a great thing about being a Penn State fan Penn State’s just you know doing great everything you know crushing it And uh definitely a fun program to cover So we’re definitely lucky that we get to do this

Andrew:

00:34:47.31 – 00:34:52.43

And speaking of Penn State doing things that are big

Andrew:

00:34:52.44 – 00:35:18.69

um I think we’ve got to give a quick shout out to some Penn Staters in uh in the NFL um you know some guys showing up for wild card weekend here in the playoffs So we had say quan score a touchdown on his first official playoff carry of his career which I think is very typical yep Yeah I think it’s very typical for sake want to just kind of show that wow factor with the first time that he touches the ball that isn’t negated by

Andrew:

00:35:18.83 – 00:35:29.65

a penalty So you know just take one doing tae kwon things and hoping that even with that said that the birds totally shut him and Daniel jones down next week But that’s a topic for another

Vince:

00:35:29.65 – 00:35:32.81

 thing It does it

Andrew:

00:35:32.81 – 00:35:41.18

does yeah it does And that’s why we got to get some more big name Penn Staters and eagles uniform so that we don’t have to feel this way

Vince:

00:35:41.64 – 00:36:08.86

Yeah But yeah Kwan showed that he should have been the number one overall pick in that draft Like I cannot believe the browns baker mayfield over sae kwon like sae kwon is just so good like he’s a generational talent like I I think he would have a better career there because the browns have a better offensive line and I think he would have done really well there Um they have a good defense so you know good defense could run game find a quarterback who can

Vince:

00:36:09.09 – 00:36:16.77

you know be a game manager like a guy like an Alex smith or jimmy Garoppolo and I think they would have done really well together there So I think they would have

Andrew:

00:36:16.78 – 00:36:24.1

Yeah no doubt all that said though I am glad that he’s not a brown just because the browns are just like a like a dumpster fire of an organism

Andrew:

00:36:24.11 – 00:36:24.78

 Yeah

Vince:

00:36:24.79 – 00:36:47.93

So are the giants though Until this past year They were their downhill so past decade So you know we’ll see what things help you know what happens But you know a Penn Stater is guaranteed to be in 50 the 52nd Super Bowl So for the 52nd time there will be a Penn Stater because there’s one on all the playoff teams that we love

Andrew:

00:36:47.93 – 00:36:49.25

 So you’re

Vince:

00:36:49.25 – 00:36:52.67

guaranteed to see a Penn State Super Bowl champion

Vince:

00:36:52.85 – 00:37:07.25

And speaking of the playoffs we saw a unique formation by our guy Dougie Dougie utilizing the wing t what are your thoughts on that and running that Travis E T N

Andrew:

00:37:07.65 – 00:37:29.45

As soon as I saw it I was like he stole that from your sitch I mean obviously you know Penn State is not like revolutionizing football by bringing back an ancient formation But as soon as I saw it I’m like like that’s it That’s the formation You’ve got the you’ve got the two running backs next to next to a lead blocker and stuff like that And

Andrew:

00:37:29.58 – 00:37:53.73

I was like man like that that exact execution might actually work well for Penn State like you don’t you don’t have to like run in between like Alan or Singleton and then the tight end Who’s the blocker Like you could just have um like singleton just go to go to the right as fast as he possibly can and turn upfield like nobody’s catching him if he does that So maybe we’ll see that wrinkle next year Yeah

Vince:

00:37:53.74 – 00:37:58.44

And that went like 30 40 yards So that was like yeah supply and set them up for a field goal

Vince:

00:37:58.45 – 00:38:01.71

to win the game a 4th of one run like right like

Andrew:

00:38:01.71 – 00:38:11.36

no defensive end is going to catch Singleton doing that They’re going to have to have like safety help or somebody back there to cut off the angle because Singleton will win that foot race almost every time

Vince:

00:38:11.37 – 00:38:14.11

I don’t know Maybe Sam Hubbard could

Vince:

00:38:14.75 – 00:38:15.11

 Yeah

Andrew:

00:38:15.12 – 00:38:15.89

 maybe

Vince:

00:38:17.47 – 00:38:23.16

Yeah he had that nice 98 fumble 98 yard fumble recovery for a touchdown

Andrew:

00:38:23.17 – 00:38:32.92

Speaking of Ohio State guys too Since we’re talking so much about N I L Did you see all the like kind of the media circus that was C J Stroud um

Andrew:

00:38:33.2 – 00:38:38.8

declaration for the NFL or the delay in doing so Did you see all this stuff about this

Vince:

00:38:38.81 – 00:38:40.93

No I didn’t catch that So fill me in

Andrew:

00:38:40.94 – 00:38:53.25

So yeah So I mean obviously um today since it is the cut off for players to declare for the NFL draft CJ stroud the quarterback of Ohio State declared for the NFL draft Um which

Andrew:

00:38:53.26 – 00:39:21.72

was largely expected because he is such a highly touted prospect He’s number four on I think it was Mel Kiper’s list of overall prospects regardless of position So looks to be like a top 10 top five number pick guy gonna get a ton of guaranteed money because because of that and all of the accolades and um deals that come with it you know so he’s just a guy who’s like immediately set up for success and there’s definitely a lot of teams that are gonna be looking for a quarterback right now So

Andrew:

00:39:21.92 – 00:39:49.16

um definitely some good opportunities for him and a lot of other quarterbacks in this quarterback heavy class But so with C J Stroud though not having declared for the draft as quickly as a lot of other players did there was some speculation around whether or not C J Stroud might actually return for another year at Ohio State Um and the you know just the total rumor mill that was spun up about this was that

Andrew:

00:39:49.37 – 00:40:15.04

you know that there was some kind of N I L Package that was being prepared for him to potentially returned to Ohio State for that final year And it was kind of picking up steam as C J Stroud was putting off his declaration or at least kind of hinting his hand at what he was going to do Um And with this being the final day for players to declare it was it kind of came to a fever pitch until finally he was like

Andrew:

00:40:15.2 – 00:40:35.13

he put up the social media graphic and he’s like yeah I’m out and in hindsight you know like like all these like online communities and read it They’re like of course he was always leaving because even if like this collective were to put together this NHL package he can still do that in the NFL plus he’ll get guaranteed money as a top 10 pick and it’ll just like have

Andrew:

00:40:35.14 – 00:40:51.57

an NFL contract and stuff like that I mean it would just be insane for him to stay So it was just kind of like a funny like turn of events where like you know all of all of college football and especially Ohio State fans were just kind of like sitting there like maybe maybe maybe maybe and then just know well

Vince:

00:40:51.57 – 00:41:02.11

it’s it’s just asinine if they were to think that to think that they would be able to conjure up a package that would be for one here because he has one year of eligibility

Andrew:

00:41:02.11 – 00:41:02.75

 left

Vince:

00:41:03.1 – 00:41:27.57

Alright maybe two at the covid here I I don’t know if he has two left or not But anyway let’s say he has one year left There’s no way Ohio State is going to get more money for one guy than for one year than a top five NFL draft pick wood for a five year contract when they get drafted in the first round like that that’s not like that So

Vince:

00:41:27.76 – 00:41:36.69

like you’re a clown if you think you know Ohio State’s gonna do five times the amount of what the NFL will pay for a top graphic like that’s just

Andrew:

00:41:36.69 – 00:41:53.55

all that said I am very glad that he declared for the NFL draft because that to me makes Ohio State that much more beatable because if you put him with that receiver group coming back for another year that’s like an NFL level offense in of itself

Vince:

00:41:53.55 – 00:41:54.53

 So we

Andrew:

00:41:54.53 – 00:41:57.57

should be counting our lucky stars in that regard because

Andrew:

00:41:57.58 – 00:41:57.64

 who

Vince:

00:41:57.64 – 00:42:03.51

knows though who knows Ohio State always seems to have a backup quarterback That’s better than the starter

Andrew:

00:42:03.52 – 00:42:04.26

 You

Vince:

00:42:04.26 – 00:42:14.08

have Cardale jones come out of nowhere to win a national championship and then jt parrot takes his job the next season and then Justin Fields turns out to be you know pretty good and

Andrew:

00:42:14.25 – 00:42:15.97

 transfer

Vince:

00:42:15.97 – 00:42:17.01

 But let me ask

Andrew:

00:42:17.01 – 00:42:17.94

 you this though

Vince:

00:42:19.3 – 00:42:26.39

a guy before he transferred out to actually be able to play and how he’s looking amazing So they always seem to have a better backup That’s kind of

Andrew:

00:42:26.4 – 00:42:33.85

let me ask you this though you know So if I if I had to ask you which would you rather take would you rather take um

Andrew:

00:42:34.36 – 00:42:42.23

unknown underclassmen guy who has not played a snap of college football yet or C J stroud who would you take

Vince:

00:42:42.24 – 00:42:53.24

I mean definitely no because they could be bad because they could be like and they could also be better like we don’t know it’s like Russian roulette You don’t know what you’re getting like it’s

Andrew:

00:42:53.24 – 00:42:54.21

 just

Vince:

00:42:54.36 – 00:43:00.92

some guy and there it’s Ohio State so they’re probably going to be you know not much of a drop off but

Andrew:

00:43:00.93 – 00:43:10.06

I mean of course not But you know when you when you talk about a guy who’s been like a Heisman finalist in two consecutive years and whatnot I mean it’s

Andrew:

00:43:10.37 – 00:43:16.09

I don’t know I’d find it very hard to like say like oh yeah this guy is gonna be astronomically better There’s probably

Vince:

00:43:16.6 – 00:43:19.73

a better man I’m not going to bet that he’s better than the CJ

Andrew:

00:43:19.73 – 00:43:20.88

 stroud but

Vince:

00:43:20.88 – 00:43:25.67

it always seems that Ohio State like that’s just kind of what I’m saying

Andrew:

00:43:25.68 – 00:43:26.36

 Yeah

Vince:

00:43:26.9 – 00:43:27.73

 yeah

Andrew:

00:43:27.74 – 00:43:37.47

yeah They’re just you know they’re they’re a reloading program you know they’re they’re set up for success Um no matter what happens with the program they’re in the same like atmosphere of

Andrew:

00:43:37.48 – 00:44:04.59

Alabama Georgia Clemson even though they’ve kind of fallen off to that extent But you know it’s just they load up on so much talent that they’re just overflowing with riches So yeah you’re right But either way um C J Stroud is off to the NFL I think it’ll be interesting to see like which teams take these um quarterbacks because I think like more teams are more quarterback needy than others but it’s like you still see guy like teams like um

Andrew:

00:44:04.88 – 00:44:31.53

like the Lions projected to take a quarterback Um you have obviously like the Raiders with the debacle with derek Carr happening You have the Houston Texans Um even with like Davis Mills and stuff like I mean it’s just interesting like these dynamics and like which team is going to be starting one of these quarterbacks day one versus like maybe having them sit and then start like midway through the season So it’ll be interesting especially for guys like like a will Levis who’s kind of like a wild card

Vince:

00:44:31.68 – 00:44:40.17

Yeah he’s more of a wild card than anyone Like he’s putting up like 100 yards a game in the sec and they have him going in the top five Like I don’t think

Andrew:

00:44:40.18 – 00:44:55.55

you know what I think that is Vince I think that is the Justin Herbert effect because Justin Herbert was pretty good at Oregon but when his prospects came out as far as like what people were talking about they said a big body who

Andrew:

00:44:55.89 – 00:45:04.13

you know could throw the ball really far really hard and accurate at times didn’t put up a ton of really flashy passing numbers Um

Andrew:

00:45:04.67 – 00:45:32.3

and you know generate a lot of offense with his legs so they weren’t really sure of what he was gonna look like as a pocket passer he comes into the league and he immediately lights it up So I think teams might be looking at Will Davison kind of the same light in that you know if he goes to a really good situation where like he’s gonna be coached up um kind of reel in some of that accuracy and just make use of just that insane arm strength like maybe they’ll see similar results So that’s where I think that’s coming from

Vince:

00:45:32.51 – 00:45:59.13

I didn’t think I did not think Herbert was going to be good and you know he definitely ended up proving me wrong and I kind of feel the same way about will love us I just I don’t think if you’re not that great in the college game you’re not going to be great in the pros That’s just kind of how I think Um you know so kudos if he he does really good I’ll definitely rooting for him and I’m sure you’re gonna have that fan base that’s like fire franklin He didn’t keep will love us like

Vince:

00:45:59.42 – 00:46:04.84

but yeah we want to wish both him and sean the best in their pursuit of the NFL

Andrew:

00:46:04.85 – 00:46:18.43

Yeah And you want to know another coach that let another um you know NFL level quarterback go and that’s Kirby Smart’s at Georgia who let Justin fields walk to Ohio State and I think Kirby Smart’s done all right for himself

Vince:

00:46:18.44 – 00:46:20.08

 Yeah he’s he’s done okay

Andrew:

00:46:20.09 – 00:46:21.74

 Yeah I would say so

Vince:

00:46:21.75 – 00:46:25.39

Almost losing to Ohio State that did not help did not help him

Andrew:

00:46:25.78 – 00:46:29.67

well almost was still a w in his record book

Vince:

00:46:29.68 – 00:46:33.85

yep you got it Uh anything else you want to cover before we get out here

Andrew:

00:46:33.86 – 00:46:43.12

just one more thing uh some uh some interesting news on the coaching front So we talked about taylor Stubblefield Um I saw a note that Jae wan cider

Andrew:

00:46:43.25 – 00:47:09.31

has officially been named the assistant head coach of the Penn State football program which I think is uh is really noteworthy because you know we talk about guys like brian Hartline who are really really good position coaches for your team jay wants it kind of fits that same description for the running backs at Penn State you know just bringing in guys on a consistent basis um really good production on the field you know you never you never really talk about running backs is like

Andrew:

00:47:09.32 – 00:47:35.35

you know wanting for better performance on the field You know normally we’re talking about the offensive line if uh if the running back um production takes a hit but I mean like talk about you know his like his first true coaching job with the running back started with miles Sanders up until now I think he’s been pretty solid So I think Penn State’s doing themselves a great service to make sure that he’s getting his promotion that he’s getting paid and that he stays happy in Happy Valley

Vince:

00:47:35.36 – 00:47:38.01

Yeah and I kind of feel like

Vince:

00:47:38.3 – 00:47:45.2

you know it’s kind of like that meme like protect this man at all costs He’s a national treasure like that’s how I feel about you want cider and

Andrew:

00:47:46.29 – 00:47:46.94

 yeah

Vince:

00:47:46.95 – 00:48:03.03

like just like protect this man at all costs like throw him as much money as you’re able to and just kind of beg him to stay at Penn State and not take a head coaching job So you know hopefully they keep giving him the oceans and you know you know getting him money that way he wants to stay and

Vince:

00:48:03.47 – 00:48:24.78

because he’s amazing like every recruit is like oh john Snyder is why I came here and you know I really liked him and so many recruits It’s it’s incredible that the running backs coach is able to have this effect So his ability to bring talent independent State makes me very happy It makes the fans happy So uh definitely got to keep

Andrew:

00:48:26.24 – 00:48:27.35

 yeah

Vince:

00:48:27.36 – 00:48:29.21

we should be happy in Happy Valley

Andrew:

00:48:29.57 – 00:48:35.76

That’s right Yeah And I think yeah to the tune of Rose Bowl champions I think we’ll be happy for a little while here

Vince:

00:48:35.77 – 00:48:58.65

Yeah And speaking of Rose Bowl champions and uh you know Dougie P Running the wing T We do still have lots of the wing T t shirts to celebrate Penn State’s Rose Bowl victory over the Utah utes So if you want to get those there in the store for the month of january we do have 10% off use code Rose champ 10 for 10% off all of the Nittany blues order

Andrew:

00:48:59.11 – 00:49:25.2

Good note Yeah And uh I think we’ll still hold onto the shirt even after the month of January just in case anybody wants to snag one of those heading into the 2023 season I think we’re probably going to be coming up with some new designs for merch as the offseason kind of take shape and gonna reminisce a little bit on the season behind us Kind of pull out some funny tidbits and maybe some things we’ve mentioned on the podcast Put on shirts So just keep a lookout for that

Vince:

00:49:25.21 – 00:49:27.55
